Ces 14 nouvelles francophones sont la concrétisation d’une idée
de Bénédicte Boisseron, professeur de langue et de littérature francophone à l’université du Montana.
de Frieda Ekotte, professeur de français, de littérature comparée et d’études africaines à l’université du Michigan.
C’est une idée remarquable de donner l’opportunité aux lecteurs de découvrir un ensemble de quatorze auteurs de langue française dans un petit livre qui se tient dans une seule main, que l’on peut glisser dans une poche de jeans et qui vous fait vivre une expérience unique : à chaque page son décor exotique, d’île en île, de continent de continent …
Ce petit livre est un kaléidoscope de la littérature française, il possède à la fois un nombre fini de nouvelles, dans un espace fini qui est le livre en lui-même, mais il vous donne accès à un nombre indéfini d’illustrations symboliques à l’esprit, les situations et les personnages se transforment d’une nouvelle à l’autre et la combinaison de celles-ci vous ouvre des horizons irréductibles…
Chaque lecteur pouvant apporter le petit plus de ses connaissances et expériences de voyageurs littéraires avertis.
La langue française est voyageuse, elle vit par les fils et les filles de la littérature française, elle n’est plus enracinée dans une nation géographique, elle est l’éloge de l’universalisme, car elle vit par celui qui la pratique, en orale ou en écrit, chacun portant dans son sac à dos, son histoire et ses origines, créant ainsi un rapport différent avec la langue française, tantôt langue maternelle, tantôt langue d’adoption. La jeunesse des auteurs tente peu à peu d’effacer la compartimentalisation et le nationalisme des souvenirs d’ordre répressif dus à la colonisation pour promouvoir une nouvelle virginité de la langue sans frontière. Il faut donner du temps au temps…
